Booking & Cancellation Policies
How do I confirm my reservation?

To confirm your reservation, please provide a credit or debit card. The full reservation amount will be charged on the day of check-in.
What is the cancellation policy?

Before December 1st, you can receive a 50% refund

We highly recommend purchasing travelers insurance for this reason!
What happens if there’s a pandemic or travel restrictions?

In cases of pandemics or travel bans, an 18-month credit note will be issued for the full amount. All received payments are non-refundable.
What if I need to cancel due to a positive Covid-19 test or other virus?

No refund or transfer is available. We recommend monitoring health and travel guidelines in the two weeks prior to travel.
What if Alaya Panama cancels my reservation?

In the unlikely event that we must cancel your reservation, we’ll strive to refund recoverable costs. Alaya Panama is not responsible for related expenses, such as flights or lost work.
Is travel insurance recommended?

Yes, we strongly advise all travelers to purchase travel insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances.
Transportation & Access
Where is Alaya located?

You can find us on Waze or Google Maps as Alaya Panama. GPS coordinates: 7º26’41”N 80º15’58”W.
What airport do I fly into?

International flights arrive at Tocumen International Airport (PTY) in Panama City.

You are responsible for purchasing international flights to Panama. This is not included in the retreat cost.
How do I get to Alaya from Panama City?

​Domestic flight from Marcos A. Gelabert Airport in Panama City to Pedasi is included in the cost of the retreat.​​

By Car: Car rentals start at $30/day. The trip is approximately 6 hours (350 km) and costs $20-$35 in fuel. We recommend using Waze and traveling through Pedasi.

By Shuttle: Several services operate between Panama City and Playa Venao:

My Pink Bus: VIP shuttle (no service on Saturdays).

Venao Tours: Daily shuttle service.

Beach Break Shuttle: Playa Venao to Panama City, private shuttles upon request.

Shuttles will drop you at Playa Venao, where we can arrange to pick you up. Private shuttle service to Alaya is also available ($120-$200).

What should I bring?

Light layers for mornings and evenings.

Comfortable shoes for varied terrain and sandals for the beach (sand is hot!)

Sunscreen and bug repellent.

Biodegradable toiletries are provided; please use these to support our water recycling efforts.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 3 pm, and check-out is by 11 am. If you need an earlier check-in or later check-out, please check availability with reception.

Kids & Pets Policies
Are kids allowed?

No, due to our resort’s intimate atmosphere, we accept guests aged 16 and older.
Are pets allowed?

Only service animals or approved support animals are permitted.
Weather & Bug Information
What’s the weather like?

Rainy Season (May-November): Hot and cloudy.

Dry Season (December-April): Very hot and windy.
How’s the bug situation?

There are some bugs, especially during the rainy season, but precautions such as repellent and long sleeves help minimize exposure.
Additional Services & Amenities

Gratuities
General staff tips are included in the cost of our retreat. Spa therapists, wellness instructors and excursion guides tips are not included. Tipping is discretionary. -
Medical Services
Emergency medical services are available 20 minutes away in Tonosi, with a doctor available for house calls in Playa Venao. The nearest pharmacy is 3 minutes away in Cañas. -
Water Safety
Our on-site well water is filtered and safe to drink. Ice is available at the bar. Refillable Alaya water bottles are also available for purchase. -
Safety & Security
Cañas is a safe town, and Alaya is gated with on-site staff available 24/7. We recommend using the in-room safe for valuables. -
Laundry Services
Laundry is available for $15 per load. A laundry bag can be requested at reception. -
Currency & Payments
The currency in Panama is the USD. Most businesses accept credit cards, though small fees may apply. -
Electricity
Power outages occur occasionally; however, we have a generator to support essentials. Appliances will resume function shortly after restoration. -
Climate Control
Every dome has A/C. -
Coworking Spaces
Coworking rates: $3.50/hour, $12/4 hours, or $20/full day.
